The season ends on a cliff-hanger with Mel calling her sister and telling her she's returning home to L.A., leaving viewers eagerly waiting for season 2! Dating someone who’s lost someone is never easy, but watching this show makes me think maybe, even though I lost my best friend….maybe I don’t have to live half a life anymore. The season includes plenty of medical drama, a baker with a mysterious past, and a glimpse into the seedy underground pot-growing industry of Northern California. The written script of giving each other space after they first met was on spot. It was great to see the way Martin & Alexandria have portrayed these characters. Grief affects us all in so many different ways. I’ve just turned 46 and haven’t remarried since the accident happened in 06, but my last son was born super premature and then the man I married passed away 5 months later so I’ve just been busy. There were some things I wished were done differently when I had my stillborn baby but there wasn’t an advocate for us but watching this show was in many ways helpful for me. And the ring they used for Mel’s character was identical to mine so that was quite bittersweet too. Seeing how they wrote Mel’s character going through such great loss truly is indescribable to those who cannot understand, nor would we wish it on anyone, esp feeling like you could have prevented it in some way too. So watching this was in many ways a form of therapy per say. I stumbled across this and after watching the first season I cannot remember how bc I too am an RN, not an NP, I too had a stillborn baby and then 6 years later the man I married unexpectedly died in a car crash 10 days before Christmas. And I’m glad that we see more of that aspect of him. It all starts to bubble up as he feels the pressure of what he’s up against with Charmaine and the baby. She’s going to get back up again and make the best of it.”Īs for Jack, Henderson says we’ll get into “some of the things he’s still struggling with from Iraq, the demons he’s plagued with, and how he attempts to push all of that down. Breckenridge acknowledges that Mel has “really worked through a lot of the grief that she experienced in the first season, and she learned to sort of open up her heart again. They’re like magnets, no matter how many obstacles keep getting thrown in their way.”īut as much as Virgin River is the story of Mel and Jack’s romance, it’s also about both characters conquering their individual problems. The thing is, Charmaine’s base level is already a little bit crazy, and then she gets pregnant… by her ex-boyfriend… who she’s still in love with.” (Hot take: We sympathize!) “But these are characters who just belong together. Virgin River Season 2 Trailer: Mel and Jack’s Love Triangle Divides the TownĪlexandra Breckenridge echoes Henderson’s concerns about Charmaine, confirming that she’s “a little crazy pants. Charmaine, of course, manipulates things to the best of her abilities, and then it’s up to Jack and Mel to navigate that in a way honors themselves and each other.” They’re all after certain things, and the negotiation is clumsy. Unfortunately, those duties are often at odds with what Mel would want, which makes for a messy, complicated triangle between the three. “Being a Marine is such an integral part of who he is, and that extends to his responsibilities as a future father and his desire to be there for Charmaine. “As a character, Jack works primarily from a sense of honor and duty,” Henderson says. When asked how Jack is doing atop the Netflix drama’s sophomore season, Martin Henderson tells TVLine, “Not great.” And can you blame him? Just as the emotionally damaged Marine was learning to open his heart to someone new, he discovered that his ex-girlfriend is pregnant. And no matter how hard they try, neither can be excluded from the narrative. Mel and Jack’s relationship remains the hottest topic in town when Virgin River returns on Friday, Nov.
